Baek Yeon-woo

Baek Yeon-woo was born the eldest son of a chaebol family, but his upbringing was anything but privileged in terms of affection. Raised in the U.S. amidst his parents' bitter discord and eventual separation, he grew up lonely, witnessing a parade of his mother's lovers.

Although he graduated with honors from a prestigious university, his private life was a self-destructive whirl of parties and fleeting relationships. When called back to Korea to prepare for corporate succession, he rebelled—renouncing his U.S. citizenship and enlisting in the military.
